Weather Forecast for March 28: Heatwave to grip Northwest and Central India

Skymet Weather has released its first forecast for Monsoon 2017 today, wherein India is expected to see annual Monsoon rains below normal at 95% of the long period average (LPA). Further Skymet foreshadows 25% chance of below normal rainfall that is between 90 to 95% of LPA of 887 mm for the Monsoon season.
Now let us look at the present weather conditions across the country.

Beginning with North India, a Western Disturbance is seen over North Jammu and Kashmir, which will give scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers over the state along with Himachal Pradesh.

Its induced cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan. It would not have much impact over northwestern plains. As a result, weather will remain dry over the region. Moreover, moderate winds are blowing over Indo-Gangetic plains that will keep the weather warm.

Coming to Central India, heatwave conditions will continue over parts of Southwest Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

Moving onto Northeast India, a cyclonic circulation is over East Bihar and adjoining areas. This system will give scattered rain and thundershowers over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and northeastern states.

Rest parts of the country will continue to witness dry spell.

Now let’s see the temperatures across major cities of India.

Delhi and Lucknow will both witness day maximum around 37 degrees, while Kolkata will see maximum temperature of 35 degrees.

Ahmedabad and Hyderabad will be quite hot with maximum temperatures around 40 degrees, while Mumbai will see settle day maximum of 37 degrees.
