Weather Forecast for March 2: Rain in Pune, Nashik, Mumbai; Heat build-up in Delhi

March 1, 2016 7:31 PM |

Seems like Central India is in for a spell of rain and hailstorm in few parts. The cyclonic circulation has shifted to Saurashtra, Kutch and South Rajasthan. Another system can be seen over Chhattisgarh. One trough is joining these two weather systems while the other one is running along the West Coast. The rain will cover Madhya Maharashtra, Southwest Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Good showers are likely over Aurangabad, Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur and Satara. Even Mumbai stands a chance of receiving some rain tomorrow. Hailstorm likely in Maharashtra and Southwest Madhya Pradesh.

Down South, some rainfall likely along the West Coast covering Mangalore, Goa and Ratnagiri. Isolated light rainfall likely in coastal parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu coast. However, the cloud cover will be there in most parts.

The winter season so far in North India was marked by deficit rainfall and mostly above normal temperatures. In view of hot and sunny days, temperatures have climbed 4 to 6 degree Celsius above normal. The present Western Disturbance will bring rain and snow only over the glaciers. Plains and hills will remain dry for now. East and Northeast India will remain mainly dry.

Maximums in the northern plains and East India will be in lower-thirties. Minimum temperatures in the northern plains will be around 16 degrees.

Mumbai is still quite hot with maximum and minimum at 36 and 23 degrees Celsius respectively. If it rains tomorrow, we can expect some relief.
