Weather Forecast for March 12: Pre-Monsoon rains in Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata

March 11, 2017 7:45 PM |

Pre-Monsoon rains continue to drench several parts of the country, though with reducing intensity. Weathermen predict that these showers will continue for another 24 hours.

In North India, the effecting Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir is now clearing away the region. With this, rain and snow activity will now reduce over the hilly region but light rain will continue over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile, weather will now go dry over the northwestern plain. Chilly winds from the snow-clad mountains will once again start blowing across the plains, leading to further drop in night temperatures over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Maximum temperatures will also settle below normal.

Moving on to the eastern parts of the country, isolated light rains will continue over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha. Kolkata could also witness some good showers during the next 24 hours. Few spells of lightning also cannot be ruled out over these areas.

Up in northeast India, the cyclonic circulation continues to prevail over the region, which will give some moderate showers over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, while rest of the states will record light to moderate rains.
