Weather Forecast for March 11: Pre-Monsoon Rain in Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow

Most parts of India are currently witnessing pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers, except parts of West India.

To start with North India, the Western Disturbance over North Pakistan is presently marked over Jammu and Kashmir, giving light to moderate rain and snow over the hilly states. Its induced cyclonic circulation is over North Haryana and adjoining Himachal Pradesh. Also, a trough is extending from this system up to Northwest Uttar Pradesh. Light rains with isolated moderate showers will continue over Punjab, Haryana and Northwest Uttar Pradesh. These areas could also record strong gusty winds with isolated spells of hailstorm.

Coming to Central India, temperatures are likely to drop in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, with dry weather over the region.

Moving to East India, another trough is seen extending along the foothills of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. This could give rain and thundershowers along the foothills of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal. Lucknow and Kolkata could also witness some rain activity.

Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation is marked over Arunachal Pradesh and adjoining Assam. With this, northeastern states may see widespread rain and thundershowers, with isolated heavy spells.

A trough is seen extending from this system up to North Andhra Pradesh across Gangetic West Bengal and Coastal Odisha, giving scattered rain and thundershowers over parts of Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

In the meantime, light to moderate rains will continue over Kerala and interior parts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai.
