Weather Forecast for March 10: Fresh spell of rain approaching India

March 9, 2016 7:15 PM |

We have entered the second week of March and a little unusual trend is being observed. North India should have been less active in terms of rainfall at present. While Southern Peninsula should have started receiving pre-Monsoon showers.

But, a prolonged spell of rain seems to approaching the country. We can see a Western Disturbance approaching North India. There is also an induced cyclonic circulation coming up over Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan region.

These two weather systems will start affecting the region mainly from 11th of March. Tomorrow, extreme western parts of Rajasthan will receive some rainfall. Gradually the rain belt will cover the hills of North India. So much so that the prolonged spell could lead flood alert in Jammu and Kashmir.

The cyclonic circulation over Northeast India will continue to bring rains over upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

A trough can be seen extending from West Bengal to Vidarbha with an embedded cyclonic circulation over Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. But it’ll bring only isolated rains.

The trough along the West Coast persists. It will bring isolated light rainfall activity along the coastal areas of Kerala.

Significant amounts of rainfall will be observed on the 12 and 13th of March across Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The rain belt will extend up to Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Bihar. The effect of the weather systems could trickle down to Telangana, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka.

We can expect a little rise in temperatures over the hills as well as plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.

Maximums in the northern plains will be in lower-thirties while minimum will be around 16°C. In East India, temperatures will be higher.

Temperatures will be quite high over Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Mumbai at present is quite hot and humid with maximum and minimum at 35 and 23°C respectively.

Hyderabad will also be hot with temperatures rising up to 37°C.
