Weather Forecast for March 04: Rain in Delhi, North India after long dry spell

The limelight in terms of rainfall activities kind of shifts from Central to North India.

The fresh Western Disturbance will reach North Pakistan and adjoining areas by Thursday. The induced cyclonic circulation will be lying over North Rajasthan.

By tomorrow evening, these weather systems will start affecting the Western Himalayas and the plains of North India. We can expect good rainfall over North Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and West Uttar Pradesh. The higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir, including places like Pahalgam and Gulmarg, could receive light snowfall. By March 5, the spread and intensity of rain will increase in the plains.

The temperature profile is quite high at present. Maximums are 5 to 6°C above normal levels. Cloud cover and rain could lead to a substantial drop in temperatures.

There is a feeble cyclonic circulation over Chhattisgarh with an East-West trough moving across Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The meeting over Northwesterly and southeasterly winds are taking place over here. This will create a confluence zone bring some rain over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Rain activity will extend up to Telangana.

In South Peninsula, cloud cover will persist. But only isolated light rainfall is likely along the coastal areas.

The cyclonic circulation over Northeast India will bring isolated rainfall over the region. Upper parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh could receive some rain.
