The dry spell in Central India has come to an end. It’s the only part of the country receiving good showers at the moment.
The cyclonic circulation over the tri-junction of Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat could be attributed to this spell of rain. There is an east-west trough running across Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha.
There is another north-south trough across coastal Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. All these weather systems will bring a prolonged spell of rain in Central and parts of East India.
March could start on a rainy note in Mumbai, which has remained dry in the entire month of February. Hailstorm likely in Maharashtra and Southwest Madhya Pradesh.
Day temperatures were significantly above normal in Maharashtra. But spell this spell of rain will bring down the temperatures by 2°C to 4°C.
Isolated light rainfall likely in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu coast. However, the cloud cover will be there.
The Western Disturbance over North Pakistan is approaching Jammu and Kashmir. But it will only bring rain and snow over the glaciers. No rain or snow likely in rest of the state. Cloudy skies will prevail over the hilly states, Punjab and Haryana.
This weather system will be closely followed by another one.
Northeast India will remain mainly dry except for Meghalaya.
Maximums in the northern plains and East India will be in lower-thirties. Minimum temperatures in the northern plains will be around 15°C. In East India, it will be higher.
Mumbai at present is quite hot and humid with maximum and minimum at 34°C and 23°C respectively.
Rain will bring some relief in Hyderabad
