The unusual heatwave continues to grip parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. No relief is in sight as weather is likely to remain warm and dry.
Meanwhile, northwestern plains of the country will continue to reel under hot and sunny weather. The day maximums over North and South Rajasthan are expected to reach the 40 degree mark. However some respite is likely for Delhi-NCR as maximum temperature may drop due to the commencement of easterly winds. Delhi would witness a warm and sunny day.

Moving to Central India; the day temperatures of North Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, parts of Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Marathwada are already settling above the normal and reaching the 40 degree mark.
On the other hand, south coastal districts of Gujarat have observed drop in maximum temperatures in the wake of humid winds from the Arabian Sea.
Mumbai would see a warm day but comfortable night. The sky would remain partly cloudy over the city.
Moving to East and Northeast India, a trough is extending from West Uttar Pradesh up to Manipur. With this weather system, we expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers over parts of West Bengal, Sikkim, West Assam and Tripura. The rest of the Northeast states would witness isolated showers.
There are chances of rains at one or two places over eastern parts of Bihar. Else, the weather would continue to remain dry and warm over the eastern chunk of the country. The city of Kolkata is expected to witness a warm and humid day, with partly cloudy sky conditions and possibilities of thunderstorm activity.

Finally in South India, a trough is running from Chhattisgarh up to Interior Tamil Nadu. With this, isolated thunderstorms are possible over Rayalaseema and Interior Tamil Nadu. Kerala may witness light to moderate rain and thundershowers at one or two places. The weather would remain dry and warm over Karnataka and Telangana.
Bengaluru would witness warm day, with chances of thundery activity. The weather over Chennai will remain warm and humid. Last of all, the city of Nizams, Hyderabad would witness a hot and sunny day.
