March 28, 2018 5:47 PM |

With the pre-Monsoon season going weak, intense heat is sweeping several parts of the country. In fact, the heatwave has not even spared parts of hills of North India. Parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra are worst affected as mercury is already soaring above 40-degree mark.

Let’s first start with the weather of Central India; the day temperatures of West Rajasthan, parts of Gujarat, Vidarbha and Marathwada are already settling above the 40 degree mark. Moreover, isolated parts of these stated regions are observing heatwave conditions. So, we do not expect any respite from the intense heat.

Mumbai would see a warm and humid day, with a maximum of 32°C and a minimum of 23°C.

In South India, a trough is extending from Chhattisgarh up to Interior Tamil Nadu. Also, a cyclonic circulation can be seen over Comorin region. With this, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected over parts of Kerala. Else, the weather would remain dry and warm over rest of Southern Peninsula.

Bengaluru would witness thundery activity over isolated parts of the city. The weather over Chennai will remain warm and humid. Last of all, the city of Nizams, Hyderabad would witness a hot day, with partly cloudy sky conditions.

Moving to East and Northeast India, a trough is extending from Assam up to Manipur. With this weather system, we expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, parts of Nagaland and Tripura.

The weather would continue to remain dry and warm over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.

The city of Kolkata is expected to witness a sultry day, with partly cloudy sky conditions.

Finally in North India, the persisting Western Disturbance is moving away eastwards, but may give isolated rains of light intensity over North Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand would continue with dry weather, so much so that there are likelihoods of heatwave conditions over isolated areas.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather is likely to keep its hold over the northwestern plains of the country. As the maximum temperatures are on rise over the entire region, we can expect isolated areas of West Haryana and Delhi and NCR to experience heatwave conditions.

Delhi would witness a hot day, with a maximum of 39°C and a minimum of 19°C.
