The state of Gujarat continues to reel under intense heatwave with cities of Porbandar and Veraval seeing record breaking maximums. Meanwhile, Konkan region including Mumbai saw marginal respite from the scorching heat.
Let us take a detailed look at the weather conditions prevailing across the country

Beginning with the central parts of India, heatwave conditions are prevailing over many parts of Gujarat and northwesterly winds from Balochistan will further increase temperatures over Gujarat region. South Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha may also witness an increase in the maximum temperatures leading to heatwave like conditions. Weather will remain dry over the entire central region.
Up North, a fresh Western Disturbance is now seen over Jammu and Kashmir which will give scattered rain and thundershowers over North Jammu and Kashmir. Other parts of the hills of North India will remain dry. Northern plains including Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh may see the day temperatures rising marginally.
Coming to East and Northeast India, a trough is seen running from Sub Himalayan West Bengal to Interior Odisha. Thus, scattered showers may occur over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland while isolated rains are expected over Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and rest of Northeast India. East India is expected to remain mostly dry but isolated thunderstorm over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha cannot be ruled out.
Moving to South India, a trough is seen running from Telangana to Interior Tamil Nadu. Thus, isolated rain and thundershowers may occur over South Tamil Nadu and a few parts of Kerala. Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will remain dry and temperatures may witness a rise over these areas.

Talking about the major cities, Ahmedabad will continue to sizzle with maximums increasing further. Delhi will remain warm and dry. Mumbai may see further relief from increasing temperatures. Kolkata is expected to witness isolated thunderstorm activity. Temperatures may witness a further rise over Hyderabad while humidity will prevail over Chennai.
