Heatwave has gripped most parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat and no relief is in offing. As far as rains are concerned, 75% of the country is expected to remain dry along with clear sky conditions, while the other remaining part would record some rain and thundershowers.
Let’s first begin with the weather over Central India; dry northwesterly winds will continue to blow across the region. A thin cloud cover is expected over Gujarat; however, it will not bring any relief from the prevailing heatwave conditions over the state.
Further ahead; West Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, parts of Telangana and Maharashtra would witness hot day conditions. Now, the Konkan and Goa region will get a slight relief from the sky-high maximum temperatures.

Mumbai would see a hot and humid day, with above normal maximums.
Moving to East and Northeast India, a cyclonic circulation is seen over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining area. Also, a trough is extending from this system up to Odisha. Furthermore, an anti-cyclone can be seen over Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh Coast.
Under the influence of these manifold weather systems, we expect scattered light rain and thundershowers over parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Northeast India. Isolated pockets of West Bengal and Odisha could also record rains. The rest of the eastern states will settle with dry weather.
The city of Kolkata is expected to witness a hot and humid day.
Talking about South India, a trough is extending from Comorin region up to Coastal Karnataka. With this, isolated light rain is expected over extreme South Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. Meanwhile, parts of Telangana, Rayalaseema and North Interior Karnataka may see a rise in maximums.
Bengaluru would see a warm day and comfortable night. The weather over Chennai will remain sultry.

Lastly up in North, a Western Disturbance can be seen over North Jammu and Kashmir. With this, clouding is expected over the mentioned region. Otherwise, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand would continue with dry weather.
Meanwhile, clear and dry weather is likely to keep its hold over the northwestern plains of the country in the wake of northwesterly winds.
Delhi would witness a hot and dry day.
