Weather Forecast for June 9: Southwest Monsoon 2016 to give rain in Kerala, Karnataka, Goa

June 8, 2016 5:45 PM |

Southwest Monsoon 2016 has officially made onset over Kerala. The cyclonic circulations on either side of the Indian coastline are enhancing rainfall activities over the Peninsular India. The off shore weather system over here is being observed as a threat for heavy showers along the West Coast, particularly between Mangalore and Ratnagiri. Honnavar, Mangalore and Goa stand a chance of receiving heavy showers. Rest of the West Coast will receive moderate rains. This circulation will become more marked now and will finally usher in Monsoon in Mumbai around June 11.

The Monsoon system in the west-central Bay of Bengal is travelling along the East Coast. The combined effect of these two weather systems is keeping the Monsoon current active in Peninsular India. Good showers likely in coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

Up in North India, we can see a trough moving across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. This will continue to bring heat triggered dust storm and thundershowers at few places in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi-NCR. However, temperature will continue to rise above 40 degrees. Good rains over the region are likely only after June 10.

Scattered pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers are likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal. Northeastern states will also continue to receive scattered rains.

Heatwave conditions will continue to prevail over many parts of Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.
