Weather Forecast for June 20: Monsoon rain increases in West Coast and Central India

A rainy day for most parts of the country tomorrow, except for the northern plains including Rajasthan and interiors of Tamil Nadu.

Southwest Monsoon has now taken under its purview entire Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. It has further advanced into some parts of North Interior Karnataka, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Jharkhand and Bihar. But, the western the western arm of the Monsoon line is still moving at a snail’s pace.

We could see heavy rains across the foothills, right from Himachal Pradesh to North Bengal. This is due to the passage of the Western Disturbance, which is drawing southerly winds along the foothills of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and adjoining areas of Madhya Pradesh is likely to move in a northwest direction. Scattered good showers are likely over Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada and Chhattisgarh. Parts of Odisha and south coastal Gujarat will receive light rains. The trough from the cyclonic circulation over North Rajasthan is extending up to West central Bay of Bengal.

The feeble trough along the West Coast is likely to intensity gradually. It will bring good showers over the region. Heavy showers at isolated place cannot be ruled out. Finally, Mumbai will also see a rainy day tomorrow.

Southerly winds are blowing over Northeast India. Heavy showers likely in the hills of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Rest of the places will receive moderate Monsoon showers.
