Weather Forecast for June 16: Rain in Delhi, Mumbai, flood hit Northeast India

June 15, 2018 5:48 PM | Skymet Weather Team

The Northern Limit of Monsoon remained static and passes through Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, parts of Odisha and West Bengal. We do not expect any advancement during the next few days.

Moving on to the weather conditions;

Starting with North, a cyclonic circulation is seen over Central Pakistan. Also a trough elongates from this system up to Assam across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Hence, light to moderate showers are expected over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

What’s more, scattered rains will occur over Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and parts of Haryana. Also, there are chances of isolated showers in Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh too.

Speaking about Central region, look like hot and dry weather is in no mood to spare the region, as hot northwesterly winds will continue to blow over South Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

Yet, there are chances of isolated showers in Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh.

Looking at east and northeastern parts; we can see a cyclonic circulation over Assam and a trough stretches from this system up to west central Bay of Bengal. Thus, moderate to heavy rains will continue over the northeastern states. This would keep the situation grim over the flood hit states of Assam, Tripura and Manipur.

Similarly, scattered showers are likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and alongside the foothills of Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh. There are also chances of isolated showers in Jharkhand and Odisha.

Finally, light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells is expected over Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and South Konkan & Goa. This would be on account of the off shore trough along the West Coast. Light to moderate rain show is also likely in North Konkan including Mumbai.

Besides this, we can see few clouds over Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Interior Karnataka; henceforth isolated showers can be expected.
