Weather Forecast for June 10: Monsoon to hit Maharashtra soon, heatwave to abate

Southwest Monsoon has progressed further, covering entire Kerala and Tamil Nadu and parts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The northern limit of Monsoon is now running through Honavar on the western side and Anantapur and Ongole on the eastern side.

The weather conditions remain favourable for its further advancement into parts of Maharashtra and Northeast India. The cyclonic circulation continues to prevail in Arabian Sea off the Karnataka Coast. While, another circulation is prevailing in its close proximity over Coastal Andhra and Odisha coast. Both the system has kept the Monsoon current active over Peninsular India. With this, light to moderate rains with isolated heavy showers will continue all along the west coast, right from Kerala up to Konkan & Goa even extending to Mumbai. While interior peninsula including Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, and Madhya Maharashtra will also witness rains on Friday.

Meanwhile on the East Coast, the circulation is likely to move in northerly direction and thus light to moderate rain and thundershowers with isolated heavy rains may lash Odisha and West Bengal coast including Kolkata on Friday.
However, intensity of Andhra Pradesh coast will decrease now onwards. With Monsoon soon likely to arrive over Northeast India, rains are now expected to pick up pace over the northeastern region.

Up in North, we can see two circulations. One is over Rajasthan, Punjab and adjoining Pakistan region. While another can be seen over West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. An east-west trough can be see extending between these two systems. With this, we can expect three day long rainy spell, commencing from Friday all along the indo-Gangetic plains including Delhi.

With rain activity picking up across the country, heatwave is all set to vacate the central and west India.
