Monsoon remained active to vigorous over Kerala and Lakshadweep Islands during the last 24 hours. This is on account of the off-shore trough along the West Coast which gave heavy to very heavy rainfall over the region. With this, conditions seem favorable for the further advancement of Monsoon into more parts of South India. The trough is likely to persist and get more marked assuring pre-Monsoon rains to continue and also cover parts of Konkan and Goa including Mumbai. Meanwhile, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana will also see some light rain activity.

This trough further extending along the coast up to west central Arabian Sea. Owing to this, rain and thundershowers are expected over parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Moving to East and Northeast region, a cyclonic circulation is seen over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar. Also, a trough is extending from this system up to Chhattisgarh. As a result, rain and thundershowers with squally winds are anticipated over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Kolkata may also witness pre-Monsoon rains.

Another trough is extending from North Uttar Pradesh up to Northeastern states. This will give rain and thundershowers over the northeast region; but with reduced intensity.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Moving to North India, hot and dry winds are blowing across the northwestern plains. Considering this, temperatures will escalate by 2 to 4°C. Delhi will witness a hot and humid day. Isolated heatwave condition may grip parts of West and East Rajasthan.
