Weather Forecast for Jun 17: Mumbai rains to reduce, Rain in Hyderabad, Kolkata

The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into more parts of Madhya Maharashtra, remaining parts of Marathawada, some parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, most parts of Odisha, remaining parts of West Bengal and some parts of Jharkhand and Bihar. During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained active to vigorous over several parts of Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and West Bengal.

A cyclonic circulation is seen over Central Pakistan and adjoining parts of Punjab. A trough is also extending from this system, with its one arm extending up to Arunachal Pradesh and another arm is reaching the low pressure area over Bangladesh. Two cyclonic circulations are embedded on this trough, one over Uttar Pradesh and other over West Assam and adjoining Meghalaya.

In wake of these weather systems, rain and thundershowers are likely at many places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi, while at few places over Jammu and Kashmir, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan. Meanwhile, isolated rains may occur over East Uttar Pradesh. Isolated dust storm activity cannot be ruled out over Rajasthan and Punjab. We expect marginal decrease in day temperatures across the northwestern plains.

In Northeast side, we expect Monsoon to pick up pace and heavy rains may lash Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and sub-Himalayan West Bengal again. Meanwhile, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura may receive moderate rains.

In East India, the rain activity will increase over Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata. Light to moderate rains are also expected over some places of East Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha,

Another trough is seen extending from circulation over Uttar Pradesh to Andhra Pradesh across Central India. With this, Madhya Pradesh, South Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana including Hyderabad and Coastal Andhra Pradesh will see good rains, with few heavy spell as well.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Down South, the off shore trough running along the west coast has become less marked. With this, rains will reduce over Konkan including Mumbai, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and South Karnataka. However, northern and coastal parts of Karnataka may observe moderate showers.
