Southwest Monsoon has received 1% above normal rains so far across the country.
The axis of the Monsoon trough is running along the Indo- Gangetic plains from Punjab to West Bengal across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. We expect that it will move further north, leading to moderate to heavy rains over Uttarakhand, parts of Himachal Pradesh, foothills of Uttar Pradesh, many parts of Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Northeast Madhya Pradesh will receive moderate showers now. A cyclonic circulation is also persisting over Uttar Pradesh. This will further enhance rains over the area. East Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and East Rajasthan will receive scattered rains.
Flood-like situation has been prevailing over Assam as of now. And, we expect heavy to extremely heavy rains for another 2 to 3 days over many parts of Northeast India.
A cyclonic circulation has formed over east-central Arabian Sea. This weather system along with the trough across the West Coast will give good rains over South Coastal Gujarat, Konkan & Goa and Karnataka. However, interiors of Maharashtra, Rayalaseema and interiors of Karnataka may receive subdued rainfall activities.
Another trough along the East coast will enhance rainfall over Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Light to moderate showers are likely over these areas. Scattered rains are likely over Tamil Nadu including Chennai.
Tomorrow we can expect Monsoon rains in the four major metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.
