Weather Forecast for January 9: Drop in temperatures and dense fog over Delhi

January 8, 2016 7:44 PM |

The affecting Western Disturbance that had given fairly widespread rain and snow over the hilly region of North India, has finally moved away. However, remnants of the system may give isolated light rain over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.

In wake of this, wind pattern has changed to dry and cold north westerlies over the northwestern plains. This will lead to significant drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures during the next 48 hours.

However, intense cold wave like conditions are not likely over the plains. But density of fog will increase and dense to very dense fog can be expected over several places including Delhi on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the prevailing anti-cyclonic circulation over Maharashtra and adjoining Madhya Pradesh will keep the temperatures slightly above normal over central and western parts of the country.

Up in Northeast India, cyclonic circulation continues to persist over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The system is likely to give scattered light rain over the entire region.

Moving on to Peninsular India, entire region is likely to witness cloudy weather on Saturday on account of a feeble trough in southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka Coast. However, it is not capable of giving any weather over the region.
