Weather Forecast for January 7: Snow in Jammu and Kashmir and rain in Tamil Nadu

January 6, 2016 6:00 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Combination of two weather systems seems to be keeping the winter chill at bay. The Western Disturbance will bring light to moderate snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on 7th and 8th of January. For the time being, both day and night temperatures will remain above normal levels in North India.

The induced cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan is not showing any signs of strengthening. It could possibly bring cloudy skies over the plains, across Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and West Uttar Pradesh. We cannot rule out the possibilities of some light precipitation.

The cyclonic circulation over Northeast India persists. Not associated with any kind of weather activity at present. But, we can expect some scattered rain showers by the 8th of January.

The anti-cyclone over here will keep the weather warmer than normal over Madhya Pradesh Maharashtra and Gujarat. Day temperatures are 2 to 3 degree Celsius above normal average in these states.

The feeble trough in Southwest Bay of Bengal will bring some rainfall in South Coastal Tamil Nadu.

Morning temperatures will remain 4 to 5 degree Celsius above normal in the plains of North India. Day maximums are in low to mid-twenties in most of the plains.

In absence of any major rainfall activity, both day and night temperatures are above normal in Peninsular India. Minimums will be lower twenties and maximums in lower thirties.
