India will celebrate the 67th Republic day amidst the peak of winters in most parts. The capital will experience inclement weather in terms of cold and fog.
At present we can see a Western Disturbance approaching North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. As it’s not an active weather system, it will bring cloud cover and rain only in the higher reaches of the Northern hills. The foothills and plains could witness a cloudy day. There is no threat on account of rainfall in the plains.
We can also see a feeble cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and adjoining areas. The prevailing weather system will bring some relief from the biting cold conditions in the plains including Delhi-NCR. Day temperature could rise up to 16°C. Minimum will not drop below 7°C. But the spectators enjoying republic day celebrations in Delhi will have to brace chilly conditions in the morning hours as temperature will hang in between 8°C and 10°C. Light northwesterly winds will add to the chill factor.
Dense fog will be observed over some parts of Punjab and Haryana. Delhi-NCR, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan will have moderate fog.
The cyclonic circulation over here will bring some light rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya and Andhra Pradesh.
Mainly dry weather likely over Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
There is a cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep area with a trough extending northwards. Light rainfall likely over Kerala, Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka.
Night will be cold in Lucknow as the night temperature will drop to 4°C. Day will be at 20°C.
Maximum and minimum temperature in Kolkata will settle at 23°C and 12°C.
Mumbai will have a warm weather with maximum and minimum at 32°C and 15°C.
