Weather Forecast for January 24: Chilly weather to prevail northwestern plains

January 23, 2016 7:05 PM |

Northwest India continues to be under the grip of chilly weather due the continuous flow of cold northwesterly winds from snow clad Himalayas.

However day temperatures are likely to rise by 1-3 degrees during next 24 hours but few parts of Punjab and Haryana will still witness cold day conditions.

While, no major change is likely in the minimum temperatures.

Moderate to dense fog will continue across the Indo-Gangetic plains.

Intensity of fog will be more over East India, particularly over parts of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar that will not allow the day temperatures to rise and several places may witness cold day conditions on Sunday.

Anti-cyclonic circulation over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southeast Rajasthan, has obstructed the cold north westerlies from reaching up to western parts of the country.

With this, both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to further increase over Maharashtra and Gujarat on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a trough is extending from South Coastal Andhra Pradesh up to South Tamil Nadu. Accordingly, scattered light rain is likely along the trough line including Chennai.

Moving on to Northeast India, the feeble cyclonic circulation is still prevailing over Meghalaya and will bring isolated light rain over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim on Sunday.

Delhi will witness maximum temperature of 19 degrees, while minimum will be around 5 degrees.

Mumbai will be warm at 32 degrees but nights will be pleasant with 17 degrees. While Bangalore will be comfortable with day temperature of 26 degrees and 18 degrees.
