Weather Forecast for January 1: Central and West India witness hot day conditions

The Western Disturbance continues to move across Jammu and Kashmir and is likely to clear the region during next 24 hours.
It will bring isolated light rain and snow over higher reaches of the region. While lower reaches and northern plains will witness only clouding on Friday. However, it will not result in any weather activity.

Temperatures across northwestern plains will continue to settle slightly above normal on Friday. Due to this, fog will continue to abate most parts of Indo-Gangetic plains and central parts of the country, barring few places. The anticyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Maharashtra also continues to persist. As a result, day temperatures across Central and West India will continue to be significantly above normal by 6-7 degrees. Gujarat, Rajasthan, parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, particularly coastal stations like Mumbai will be under grip of hot day conditions.Moreover, no major change is expected in the temperature profile during next few days as well.

In Northeast India, the cyclonic circulation over Tripura has become less marked and will give isolated light rain over parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on Friday.

The prevailing trough of low over southwest Bay of Bengal may give light rain over Coastal Tamil Nadu on Friday. Chennai can also receive some isolated showers.
