Weather Forecast for Jan 9: Fog to reduce in Punjab, Haryana, UP, Rain in TN, Chennai

To start with the weather of North, a feeble Western Disturbance will affect Jammu and Kashmir with isolated rain and snow over the higher reaches of the state. Rest of North Indian Hills namely Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will remain dry.

Meanwhile, the intensity of fog will reduce over Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Cold wave conditions will persist over parts of Haryana, Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh. Frost is also predicted over many parts of northwestern plains barring Delhi.

Moving to Central India, the weather will remain dry over the entire region. Nights are predicted to be chilly over parts of East Madhya Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha. Meanwhile, South Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha would witness little warm days.

In East and Northeast India, the weather over eastern as well as northeastern parts of the country will remain dry. Dense to very dense fog will occur over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Cold day conditions will be seen at isolated places over the mentioned areas.

Meanwhile, moderate to dense fog will occur over West Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Lastly in South India, a low pressure area is seen over south central Bay of Bengal. With this, scattered light to moderate rains are expected over Coastal Tamil Nadu including Chennai. Isolated rains are also possible over interior parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Weather over remaining parts of South Peninsula will remain dry.
