January 25, 2017 6:04 PM |

An active Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir. This system has already given heavy to very heavy rain and snow over the state, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Uttarakhand. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue for at least 48 hours over these states.

Its induced cyclonic circulation can be seen over Punjab and adjoining areas. Also, a trough is extending from this system up to West Uttar Pradesh. Due to this, rain and thundershowers are likely at many places over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh. Maximum temperatures are expected to drop by 3 to 6 degrees over these areas.

Meanwhile, dry weather will continue over central and eastern parts of the country.

Down South, a cyclonic circulation is marked over South Tamil Nadu. In wake of this, scattered light to moderate rains are likely over Tamil Nadu including Chennai, parts of Kerala and South Interior Karnataka.

Andaman and Nicobar islands will also continue to record scattered rains.
