January 1, 2019 7:06 PM |

To begin with North India, the Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir has given 2019's first snowfall over many places of Western Himalayas. Further also we expect rain and snow to continue over most parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. WIth this, nights would be chilly and days wold be cold, although minimums would rise slightly.

In fact, change in wind pattern from from north to east/southeast would lead to increase in minimums over northern plains. Cold wave conditions would also abate from parts of Northwest India.

Moving to Central India, cold wave conditions are expected to continue over most parts of the region, with severe cold wave gripping Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra. Rest all places will observe dry weather with clear sky leading to sunny day.

Douth South, scattered light rains are likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in wake of the trough passing across Andaman Sea. But weather over rest of South India will remain abbsolutely dry. In fact, with cld winds from north reaching Telangana and parts of Karnataka, we do not expect any relief from cold wave.
