January 16, 2017 4:29 PM | Skymet Weather Team

After giving spells of rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the persisting Western Disturbance has now moved away. Now a fresh Western Disturbance is expected which would give rain and snow over these states by tonight.

The Western Disturbance that has moved away has induced a cyclonic circulation over Punjab and adjoining Pakistan. This system is expected to give light rain over northern districts of Punjab, Haryana and foothills of West Uttar Pradesh.

Minimum temperatures over northwest plains and central parts of the country will remain marginally above normal which will keep the weather dry and clear.

Shallow fog may occur over many places of northern and eastern plains.

Down South, no major change is expected in both day and night temperatures. Thus the weather of South Peninsula will remain dry.

A trough extending from Comorin area to south central Bay of Bengal will give light rain and thundershowers at one or two places over Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
