Weather Forecast for Jan 12: Rain in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coldwave to abate from Punjab, Haryana

Beginning with North India, a feeble Western Disturbance is over Jammu and Kashmir. Thus, partly cloudy sky conditions are likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. However, no significant weather activity is expected in these areas.

Due to cloud cover, minimums are expected to rise over the hills as well as Northern Plains of India. Cold wave conditions will abate from Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh. However, isolated parts of North Rajasthan may see cold wave. Delhi pollution will remain on the lower side due to moderate winds.

Coming to East and Northeast India, dense to very dense fog will persist over northern parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim along with few parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura. A cyclonic circulation does persist over South Bangladesh and adjoining North Bay of Bengal. However, no weather activity is expected due to this system.

Moving to Central India, an anti cyclone is seen over Maharashtra region. Dry winds are also blowing over Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Thus, minimums are expected to marginally increase over these areas. Moreover, with southeasterly humid winds blowing over Konkan and Goa and South Gujarat, night temperatures will rise further here.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Down South, the trough of low has shifted south thus rain intensity will reduce over Tamil Nadu and Chennai. Only scattered rains will be observed over southern parts of Tamil Nadu with isolated rains occurring over Kerala and rest of Tamil Nadu.
