2019 with itself has also brought a fresh spell of rain and snow for the hilly states of North India. A Western Disturbance is marked over Jammu and Kashmir and it’s induced Cyclonic Circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab. Thus, scattered light to moderate rain/snow can be seen over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and isolated over the upper reaches of Uttarakhand. Minimum temperature would also see rise but nights would continue to be chilly.

Plains of Punjab might also see some light rainfall, but weather of Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan will be dry. Again, with the change in wind pattern, minimum temperatures may increase further, leading to gradual abatement of Cold Wave conditions from many parts.

Delhi pollution will remain high due to change in wind direction, light wind speed and increase in humidity.

Heading to Central India, Cold Wave conditions will persist over parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In fact, severe Cold Wave conditions will continue over many parts of Maharashtra and over one or two places of Gujarat.

Weather will remain dry and sunny over south Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Chhattisgarh and North Madhya Pradesh would also see shallow fog/mist during morning hours.

These cold winds from north would also continue over East India and thus, parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal would continue to be in grip of cold Wave conditions. Severe Cold Wave conditions would continue to grip many parts of Odisha and isolated pockets of Bihar.

While weather over Northeast India would be dry with moderate fog over Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Down South, there is no significant weather system, therefore weather will remain dry over the southern states. However, isolated light to very light rain may occur over South Tamil Nadu and a few places of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
