Weather Forecast for February 03: Winter at bay despite drop in minimums in North India

February 2, 2016 6:16 PM |

No significant weather systems are likely to affect North India as of now. Night temperatures have come down to single digit in most parts of the plains including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and North Rajasthan. By the 6th of February, we can expect a Western Disturbance to start affecting weather in terms of temperatures, clouding and some precipitation. Minimums could rise up to 13 degrees in the plains. Thus, the winter chill will completely vanish. For the next 3 days minimums will remain below normal.

The intensity of fog has also reduced. Only isolated places in Punjab and Haryana could see some moderate fog. Rest of the plains will have shallow fog. In East and Northeast India few places could see dense fog.

The cyclonic circulation over here will bring some light rainfall over Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. This is the only pocket to receive some rains.

The western and central parts of the country will continue to warm and sunny. Telangana and parts of Maharashtra are experiencing above normal maximums temperatures. Particularly, Vidarbha is reeling under very hot weather conditions.

The coastal parts of Karnataka and Kerala are witnessing warm afternoon with maximums reaching mid-thirties. No rainfall likely in South India till about a week.

Night will be slightly chilly over Delhi with minimum settling at 6°C.

Minimums will be higher in Lucknow and Patna in the range of 10 to 12°C.

West, Central and South India are experiencing warm weather. Day temperature in Hyderabad will be at 36, while minimum will be at 19°C.
