Weather Forecast for Feb 29: Rain and thundershowers ahead for Northern plains, isolated rain likely in South India

Up in the North: A Western Disturbance is lying over Jammu and Kashmir. Its induced Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over Northwest Rajasthan and its adjoining areas. Therefore, we expect fairly widespread rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, while scattered rain will be observed in Uttrakhand.

Rain, thundershowers and hailstorms are likely at a few places in Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh as well. Scattered rain is expected in North Rajasthan and Delhi and its adjoining areas. Isolated hailstorm activities are also possible in parts of Punjab,

Coming to Central India South Rajasthan and Gujarat will witness dry and warm weather conditions. However, isolated rain and thunderstorm activities may occur in North and Central Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha region in Maharashtra and North Madhya Maharashtra. The weather in Chhattisgarh will remain dry.

Down South, a Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over the east-central Arabian Sea off Karnataka coast. Therefore, isolated rains are possible in Coastal Karnataka and Kerala. The weather of Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will remain dry.

In East and Northeast India: The weather of the entire East and Northeast India is expected to remain dry. Isolated light rain is likely in Arunachal Pradesh. Minimums may rise marginally in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
