Northeast Monsoon continues to be vigorous over south coastal Tamil Nadu and normal over rest of Peninsular India.
The Low pressure area over southwest Bay of Bengal off the South Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka Coast continues to persist but is gradually shifting westwards.
With this, heavy to very heavy showers will continue to lash South Coastal Tamil Nadu during next 24 hours. Cuddalore district which is already reeling under massive floods will again witness torrential showers on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Chennai will continue with light rain with one or two good showers on Sunday. Interior Tamil Nadu will also receive light to moderate rain.
With system moving westwards, rains will now increase over Kerala and Karnataka and they may receive light to moderate rain during next 24 hours.
Northeast India, the region is expected to witness isolated showers on Sunday.
Up in the hills, the feeble western disturbance marked over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas. This will give light to moderate rain and snow over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. However, it will not have any impact on northern plains.
Meanwhile, Northwestern plains, East and Central India will witness pleasant and dry weather on Sunday on account of anti-cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and adjoining areas.
