Weather Forecast for December 5: Chennai, Tamil Nadu rains to increase

Northeast Monsoon continues to be vigorous over coastal Tamil Nadu and active over rest of Peninsular India. Cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay of Bengal off the South Tamil Nadu Coast has intensified into a low pressure area. The system will continue to persist over the area for some more time. A trough is also extending from the system northwards up to south coastal Andhra Pradesh.

South Coastal Tamil Nadu will receive moderate to heavy showers during next 24 hours. Meanwhile after a brief respite, Chennai will once again witness increase in rain from Saturday evening. However, intensity of rains will be restricted to light showers with few moderate spells only.

Also under the influence of the system, rains will increase over Kerala that would get light to moderate showers on Saturday. While coastal Andhra Pradesh, Interior Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka will continue with light rain.

Moving to Northeast India, cyclonic circulation over region continues to persist and will bring light rain over Arunachal Pradesh and adjoining Assam.

Up in the hills, the feeble western disturbance is now over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining areas. This will impact only higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir that too in terms of clouding but will not have any impact on lower reaches or the plains.

Meanwhile, East, Central and North India will be witnessing pleasant and dry weather conditions on Saturday on account of anti-cyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh.
