Its curtains down for Northeast Monsoon over Peninsular India, as the season ends officially on December 31.

However rain activity will continue over extreme southern parts of the region on account of the trough of low over southwest Bay of Bengal. On Thursday, we can expect isolated light rain over South Coastal Tamil Nadu and South Kerala.

Remaining parts of Peninsular India will continue to be mainly dry.

Moving on to northern parts of the country, a fresh Western Disturbance is moving across Jammu and Kashmir and is likely to bring isolated light rain and snow over higher reaches of the state.

The system has also induced a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan. Both the systems combined together will cause clouding over northwestern planes. However, they will not give any weather over the region.

Meanwhile the cyclonic circulation over Uttarakhand continues to persist but the system is not capable of giving any weather over the region.

Also these weather systems have pushed the prevailing anticyclonic circulation over Madhya Pradesh further south.

As a result, day temperatures across Central and West India will continue to settle significantly above normal, particularly over parts of Coastal Maharashtra including Mumbai.

Increased temperatures will lead to fog free mornings across Indo-Gangetic plains and central parts of the country, barring few places.

Up in Northeast India, the cyclonic circulation over Tripura continues to persist. It is likely to give isolated light rain activity over parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.
