Weather Forecast for December 27: Rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir, light rain in Tamil Nadu

The fresh Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir is likely to give scattered light to moderate rain and snow over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, and over few places of Uttarakhand on Sunday. While lower reaches of the region will receive to light to moderate rain only.

Meanwhile, northwestern plains will continue to brave cold and dry northwesterly winds. Minimum temperatures are expected to increase during next 24 hours.

These cold northerly winds are also reaching up to Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. As a result, cold wave conditions would be observed over East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha region with both maximum and minimum temperatures settling below normal.

Moving to eastern parts of the country, a feeble trough is seen extending from East Bihar up to Odisha. However, it will not have any impact on the weather over the region.

Up in Northeast India, the cyclonic circulation over Meghalaya and adjoining Tripura continues to persist. However due to lack of moisture incursion only isolated showers can be recorded over one or two places only.

Northeast Monsoon continues to be weak over the region. A trough can be seen extending from South Bay of Bengal up to Sri Lanka that will give scattered light rain over Coastal Tamil Nadu and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.  Remaining parts of Peninsular India will continue to be mainly dry.
