Weather Forecast for December 2: Heavy rain in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh to continue

December started on a rainy note in Chennai, northern parts of Tamil Nadu and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay of Bengal has been causing intense rainfall activity over the region since Tuesday morning. Heavy to very heavy showers are likely to continue throughout Wednesday in several cities including Pondicherry, Nellore, Ongole, Chennai and Cuddalore. Gradually intensity of rainfall will gain strength over southern parts of Tamil Nadu as well. Dark overcast skies bringing intermittent rains will be a routine feature in the region for the next few days.

The feeble cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep region is bringing some rainfall over Kerala. In fact, Northeast Monsoon will bring some rainfall in most parts of Peninsular India during next few days.

The cyclonic circulation lying over western parts of Madhya Pradesh brought the first spell of winter rainfall over the region. It will gradually move eastwards, affecting Chhattisgarh and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The anti-cyclone over Chhattisgarh will keep the weather dry over East and Northeast India on Wednesday. Some rainfall likely over this area, December 3 onward.

Hills of North India, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Gujarat and Rajasthan will remain dry. Northwesterly winds are blowing over the region. Foggy and misty weather likely over these areas.
