Weather Forecast for December 12: Chennai to be dry, moderate rain in South Coastal Tamil Nadu

Northeast Monsoon continues to be on back seat over Peninsular India. And good rain activity is now confined to extreme southern parts of Tamil Nadu.

The feeble trough continues to extend from the Comorin region up to Coastal Andhra Pradesh across Tamil Nadu. With this, places such as Pamban and Palayamkottai are likely to get moderate showers during next 24 hours. Oscillation of trough might also give rain over interior parts but it will be of very light intensity.

Chennai on Saturday is expected to witness dry weather conditions, leading to increase in day temperatures. However passing showers of very short duration cannot be ruled out. While Kerala, Karnataka and parts of Telangana and Maharashtra may also get light showers on account of Northeast Monsoon.

The active western Disturbance is now clearing away the Jammu and Kashmir region. However, remnants of the system will continue to give scattered light rain and snow activity over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.

The induced cyclonic circulation from this system has also shifted and is now marked over West Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Uttarakhand. Both the systems combined together are likely to give rain over foothills of region.

In Northeast India, the cyclonic circulation over Arunachal Pradesh and adjoining Assam region continues to persist. With this, scattered light rain activity is also likely to continue over both the states.

Central, West and East India will continue with dry and pleasant weather conditions.
