The deep depression over southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into cyclonic storm Vardah. The system is expected to gradually intensify further into a severe cyclone during next 24 hours and will continue to move northwards.
In wake of this, moderate to heavy rains will continue over Andaman and Nicobar Islands for next 24 hours. Thereafter, the intensity will reduce significantly. Rescue operations will then be carried smoothly.

Tamil Nadu, Kerala and southern parts of Karnataka may receive light rains at few places.
A cyclonic circulation is seen over Lakshadweep Islands and a trough is running from this system up to South Konkan region. This would give scattered rains over Lakshadweep Islands.
Central parts of the country will continue to witness dry weather. Dense to very dense fog will persist over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan, parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Chhattisgarh.
Maximum temperatures may further drop over the northwest plains including Delhi-NCR due to the persisting fog conditions.
