To begin with North India, the Western Disturbance now lies over central parts of Jammu and Kashmir. This system is likely to give isolated moderate spells of rain/snow over Jammu and Kashmir, North Himachal Pradesh and few parts of Uttarakhand.
Cold Wave conditions will continue to prevail over the plains of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand with chances of fog. Severe Cold Wave conditions in parts of Punjab, northwest Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan is expected. Light to moderate fog is expected at many parts of the plains. Whereas, dense fog can be witnessed in pockets of Punjab, North Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh.
Capital territory will witness Cold Wave conditions and cool day because of the north/northwesterly cool winds. Moderate fog may occur during early hours. There will be a marginal improvement in pollution levels but ‘very poor’ category will still be maintained.
In East/Northeast India, Cold Wave conditions are likely to develop in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, North Odisha and West Bengal. Moderate fog is likely to be seen in Bihar and Jharkhand thus leading to further drop in mercury over these areas. Day temperatures will continue to maintain below normal by 2-4°C. Sky will be sunny.
A Cyclonic Circulation lies over Bangladesh and adjoining Tripura. Light rain is a chance in parts of Meghalaya and decrease in rainfall can be seen over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Nagaland. Fog conditions will intensify in parts of Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Heading towards Central India, the Cold Wave conditions have already developed over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha region which is likely to intensify further. Light to moderate fog may occur over in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Whereas, haze and mist can be seen over rest parts of Central India.
Down South, no significant weather system is prevailing, and a trough has moved away from Kerala heading towards West. Lakshadweep Islands are expected to receive light to moderate thundershower activities. Light scattered rain is likely over South Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu with isolated spells over South Andhra Pradesh coast.
Rains will further decrease over the South Peninsula.
