December 28, 2018 5:48 PM | Skymet Weather Team

To begin with North India, a feeble western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. This system might give isolated light rains over the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh but weather of Uttarakhand will remain dry. Cold northwesterly winds will lead to further fall in day and night temperatures over the plains.

Isolated pockets of Punjab and northwest Uttar Pradesh may witness dense fog. Whereas, moderate to shallow fog is likely over rest of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and North Rajasthan.

Due to moderate nature of winds, pollution in Delhi is expected to decrease marginally but will continue to be in very poor category over the most places.

These chilly winds are also reaching Central India and thus, day and night temperatures of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and parts of Gujarat have dropped significantly and are now under the grip of cold wave. No change is likely in the prevailing condition for the next 24-48 hours.

In East/Northeast India, isolated light rains may occur over upper reaches of Arunachal Pradesh. Weather of rest northeastern states will be dry. East India will also continue to witness dry and cold weather conditions as day and night temperatures may fall marginally.
