Weather Forecast for Dec 20: Rain in Kashmir, Himachal, Chennai, Delhi to remain fog free

Talking about the weather conditions across North India, a western disturbance is seen over northern parts of Jammu and Kashmir. This system is likely to give scattered light rain and snow over northern parts and isolated over Himachal Pradesh. An induced cyclonic circulation is seen over Central parts of Pakistan. Weather across the northern plains will remain dry with few medium and high clouds.

The Minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to increase marginally over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and North Rajasthan. Shallow fog is possible at a few places over Punjab and Haryana but Delhi will remain fog free.

Moving to East and Northeast India, a cyclonic circulation is seen over Eastern parts of Bangladesh. But weather across Northeastern states as well as East India will remain dry as the moist winds are not increasing moisture from Bay of Bengal is not reaching northeast.

Dry northerly winds will blow over eastern parts leading to dry and cold weather. Moderate to dense fog is possible over northeast Uttar Pradesh, northern parts of Bihar and Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Meghalaya and parts of Assam.

In Central India, partly cloudy to cloudy sky is persisting over many parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and North Maharashtra. Therefore the minimum temperatures are expected to remain above normal over these areas. We expect that the temperatures of Chhattisgarh will also rise marginally. Weather across Central India will remain dry.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Down South, a trough is extending from South Andaman Sea to Southwest Bay of Bengal. In wake of this weather system, light rain is likely over few places of coastal Tamil Nadu. Chennai may also witness isolated light rains. A cyclonic circulation is also marked over South Andaman Sea.

It is expected to give light to moderate rains over Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Meanwhile, weather of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka will remain dry.
