Weather Forecast for Dec 2: Rains to make a comeback in Tamil Nadu; pollution levels will be up once again

Yesterday’s trough of low over equator and adjoining Andaman and Nicobar Islands has moved westwards and is presently over East of Sri Lanka and Southwest Bay of Bengal. Rainfall activity will remain scattered over the coast of Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh and few places of Kerala. Due to the presence of easterly winds, good rains will start over coastal parts of Tamil Nadu coast post 24 hours. Telangana and most parts of Karnataka will remain mainly dry.

Heading towards East and Northeast India, a cyclonic circulation is over Bangladesh and adjoining Tripura. A trough is seen extending from this system up till North Bay of Bengal. Partly cloudy to cloudy sky is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Light rain is likely over these regions. Most parts of Northeast India will witness light to moderate fog during morning hours and hazy sun during afternoon. Dry weather along with shallow fog/mist during morning hours is likely over the eastern states.

In Central India, an Anti-cyclone is over Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh. Dry weather will prevail most parts of central India. Minimum temperatures may rise over Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Up in North, a Western Disturbance is likely to approach over Northern Himalayan region by December 3. Night temperature will rise gradually over the hills. As north-westerlies will lose its strength over the plains, smog will increase over the cities during early morning hours. Pollution levels will once again shoot up over cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Agra and Jaipur.

Morning temperatures are expected to rise over Northwest plains post 24 hours.
