The weather system brewing in southwest Bay of Bengal has finally intensified into a Cyclone Nada. With this we can expect moderate to heavy showers to lash coastal Tamil Nadu during the next 24 hours. Chennai will also witness good rains with some very heavy showers on Thursday.
Parts of south coastal Andhra Pradesh may see light to moderate rains, while scattered rains are also likely over Interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Further Nada will continue to move in northwest direction and is likely to cross the Indian coast, south of Puducherry by Friday morning.
In wake of the rainy spell, day temperatures are likely to drop across South India. These cool winds will also reach up to Maharashtra, leading to marginal drop in day maximums that have been settling above normal for the last few days.
Meanwhile in North India, the Western Disturbance is clearing Jammu and Kashmir region. However, moderate to dense fog will occur over plains of North and East India including Delhi NCR.
As a result, day maximums are likely to drop marginally, while minimum temperatures may rise over the region.
Up in Northeast India, the cyclonic circulation continues to prevail over Mizoram and adjoining areas. With this, isolated rain will continue over the region.
