Weather Forecast for August 4: Rain in Kolkata, Uttarakhand; flood in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar

In North.. a cyclonic circulation is over Jammu & Kashmir and the axis of Monsoon trough is extending from Himachal Pradesh. Thus, moderate rain with isolated heavy spells are likely over Uttarakhand.

Whereas scattered light to moderate rain are likely over Himachal Pradesh and Northwest Uttar Pradesh with possibility of isolated light rain over Jammu & Kashmir. Northern plains including Delhi NCR will remain dry.

In east and northeast.. the low pressure area now lies over East Bihar. Therefore, moderate to heavy rains are likely over Bihar and parts of East Uttar Pradesh. Whereas light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells are likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.

Scattered rains are likely over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata and Odisha. The flood situation in Uttar Pradesh will slowly improve however no relief is in sight for Bihar.

In Central.. scattered rains may continue over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, with isolated rain over Vidarbha and South Gujarat. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain are expected over Konkan & Goa including Mumbai.

In South.. Coastal Karnataka will see light to moderate rain. Meanwhile, Monsoon will remain subdued over South Peninsula.
