Weather Forecast for August 3: Monsoon rain in Lucknow, Patna, Kolkata; dry weather in Delhi

The axis of Monsoon trough is running from North Punjab to the low pressure area over East Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, light to moderate rain with one or two heavy spells over Uttarakhand and adjoining Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Jammu & Kashmir along with the northern plains including Delhi-NCR would only see isolated rain.

These systems would give moderate to heavy showers over east and Central Uttar Pradesh like Allahabad, Varanasi and Gorakhpur. Whereas light to moderate rains are possible over Bihar and Jharkhand including cities like Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bhagalpur and Purnea. West Bengal and North Odisha may too see one or two heavy spells.

We are expecting slight decrease in rain over Uttar Pradesh in the coming days, thus flood situation would improve steadily.

In Northeast, light to moderate showers will lash the seven sister states along with one or two heavy spells.

Moving to central parts, Northeast Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh are likely to observe moderate showers, but rain would stay light over rest of Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan & Goa including Mumbai. Rajasthan, Gujarat and Marathwada will remain dry.

Meanwhile, light to moderate showers will persist in Kerala and Coastal Karnataka, with light showers over Interior Karnataka and parts of Tamil Nadu and isolated weather over Coastal Andhra Pradesh can be expected.
