Weather Forecast for August 22: Relief from Kerala floods; Rain in North MP, East Rajasthan, Punjab

In Central India, moderate rains are likely with isolated heavy spells over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining East Rajasthan. Similarly, light to moderate rains with isolated heavy spells over Konkan & Goa cannot be ruled out. Mumbai may also see some good rainfall activity.

There are chances of scattered light showers over rest of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Marathwada along with isolated moderate rain in Gujarat. Thus, Chhattisgarh will see relief from flooding conditions.

Up North, a cyclonic circulation is over Central Uttar Pradesh and the axis of Monsoon trough is passing via Punjab and Haryana. Thus, light to moderate rainfall is possible over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and parts of Punjab, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh. In the interim, Jammu &Kashmir, Delhi and North Rajasthan could see isolated spells.

Furthermore, we expect light to moderate rain over Coastal Karnataka, while rains will remain subdued over rest of Southern Peninsula including Kerala. Consequently, the flood situation will improve over the state, bringing in some respite over the god’s own country.

At last in East & Northeast, light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells are expected over parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Whereas scattered light to moderate showers over East Uttar Pradesh and Northeast India cannot be ruled out. There is also possibility of scattered light showers in Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next 24 hours.
