August 8, 2016 6:38 PM |

A cyclonic circulation is seen over South Pakistan and adjoining areas and a low pressure area is marked over Southwest Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh. With these two systems interacting with each other, heavy to very heavy rains are expected over East Rajasthan while moderate to heavy rains are likely over parts of Gujarat and West Madhya Pradesh.

The hilly states of North India, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will receive scattered light to moderate rains.

The axis of the Monsoon trough is extending from Northwest Rajasthan up to east-central Bay of Bengal via Madhya Pradesh, South Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand. Therefore, we expect good rains over Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

The cyclonic circulation that was earlier prevalent over Gangetic West Bengal will now move in Northwest direction, as a result heavy to very heavy rains are likely over North Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand while Chhattisgarh and Bihar will witness scattered light to moderate rains. North eastern states will receive scattered light to moderate rains.

The off-shore trough is also extending from South Gujarat up to Karnataka Coast and is likely to give mainly moderate rains over Konkan and Goa, South Coastal Gujarat, Coastal Karnataka and North Kerala. Interior parts of Maharashtra and Peninsular India will continue with the subdued rainfall only.
