Weather Forecast for Aug 30: Heavy rain in Mumbai, Surat, Rajkot, Valsad

The city of dreams Mumbai has witnessed heavy rains in the past day. Colaba Observatory witnessed 152 mm of rain and Santacruz Observatory 88 mm of rain. At present the Low Pressure area is over southwest Madhya Pradesh and has further moved towards West and is presently lying over South Gujarat and adjoining area.

The active Monsoon trough is also moving along the West Coast. Due to these weather systems, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to continue over North Konkan including Mumbai. 60 to 100 mm of rain may occur again over the Mumbai region. Heavy spells also expected over South Gujarat coast. Rain intensity will increase over the rest parts of Gujarat also. Windy condition will prevail over this region with overcast sky.

The axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Center of Low, South Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, North Odisha towards East Central Bay. Rain is likely to decrease over Chhattisgarh and east Madhya Pradesh however scattered moderate rains will continue over Madhya Pradesh and increase over the northern parts.

In North India a Western disturbance is moving across East Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this weather system, scattered light rain is expected over East Jammu and Kashmir. Light to moderate rain is also likely over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The plains of northwest Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh will receive scattered light rains and will increase after 24 hours. Eastern parts of Rajasthan will receive scattered light to moderate rains while western parts will mainly witness light showers.

Talking about East India, a cyclonic circulation has developed over Assam therefore Rain activity will increase over the area. Scattered light with few moderate rainy spells also expected. However the rainfall activity will reduce over Odisha. Light rains are also likely over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, southern and northern districts of Bihar, and East Uttar Pradesh.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

In Maharashtra, rain will decrease over Marathwada and Vidarbha. Heavy rains will continue over some places over north Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan region. Rain intensity may reduce after 24 hours. Talking about the southern region of the country, rain will reduce over Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala. While, moderate to heavy rains will continue over Karnataka and Kerala coast for another 24 hours and then reduce.
