Weather Forecast for Aug 3: Monsoon rains in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bhopal

August 2, 2016 4:14 PM |

Monsoon at present is quite active and is easily meeting the pan-India daily rainfall target.

Tomorrow we could see a cyclonic circulation lying over Northwest Rajasthan. Another one is lingering on over Northwest Madhya Pradesh. A trough from this system is extending up to Gujarat where there is another cyclonic circulation. Thus, multiple weather systems will bring heavy to very heavy rainfall over West Madhya Pradesh and parts of East Rajasthan. Delhi and NCR may receive rains over isolated places.

The low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a well-marked low. It will induce moderate to heavy showers over Odisha and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata will also receive good showers tomorrow.

The axis of the Monsoon trough is also reaching up to this low pressure area via Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Therefore, we expect good rains over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana and Vidarbha.

The off-shore trough running from South Gujarat to Karnataka coast will continue to pour moderate to heavy showers over Konkan & Goa, South Gujarat and parts of the Karnataka Coast. Weather in Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka will remain dry.

A Western Disturbance which is over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir region will bring scattered moderate to light rains over the hilly states of North India.
