Weather Forecast for Aug 28: Heavy rain in Mumbai, Hyderabad; Light showers in Kolkata, Bengaluru

To start with north, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will record isolated rains. The weather will remain dry over the northwestern plains but one or two short spell of rain cannot be ruled out over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.

Moving to east & northeast side, rain is likely to reduce over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Light to moderate rain may occur over West Bengal and northeastern states. Jharkhand and Odisha may see light to moderate showers with one or two heavy spells.

Moving onto central region, a cyclonic circulation is marked over Odisha and adjoining areas. With this, moderate to heavy rains are expected over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and parts of Marathwada.

Another cyclonic circulation is over Southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Gujarat and Madhya Maharashtra. Due to this, heavy to very heavy rains are possible over Gujarat region, while light to moderate rains may occur over Southeast Rajasthan.

Down South, Coastal Andhra Pradesh may receive light to moderate rains. The rain intensity will be much more over Telangana so much so that the state may record one or two heavy spells. The active off shore trough runs along the West Coast. With this, Konkan and Goa will see moderate to heavy rains, in fact the northern area of Konkan region may witness one or two very heavy spells.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Meanwhile, Rayalaseemaa and Madhya Maharashtra will record scattered light to moderate rains. Rains will remain subdued over Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka.

Talking about major cities of India, Mumbai will witness heavy to very heavy rains, whereas moderate to heavy rains are likely over Hyderabad. Kolkata and Bengaluru will receive light rains.
